I now remember.
I am not here to steal moments of joy from the clutches of fear even though my life experiences have led me to believe such youthful folly before.
I am now able to recognize I am here to be, to show up and share my unique brilliance with those who are ready to witness it without judgment, question, or reservation.
I am not for everyone.
I no longer use my energy to try to prove I'm special enough to be worthy of love, care, and attention to those who can't see beyond their own surface distractions, social conditioning, and habitual patterns.
My one life, with its limited time on this planet, is meant to engage in discovering the amazing moments of everyday wonder available to anyone willing to pay attention, be present, and connect with what is.
Fear can't coexist with love.
I have always demonstrated my willingness to live out my core values despite the costs paid for the privilege of being myself, expressing my needs, and meeting life at my own depth.
My most courageous moments have emerged from acknowledging, connecting, and acting directly from my own vulnerability to stand up for what is true, just, and fair.
Love is rooted, grounded, and connected.
Love isn't words uttered from the lips outward.
Love is demonstrated in actions regardless of the words being spoken.
I now remember to demonstrate love, to myself first, and then to others and my environment.
Demonstrating love to myself first isn't selfish.
I had been led to believe loving myself was selfish by the invisible yet powerful structure intended to keep me thinking small, in my proper place, upholding power dynamics never intended to nourish me but rather always there to control, extract value, and encourage compliance by separating myself from my own power, love, and self-expression.
I will continue my personal tradition of departing from people, places, and spaces mired in fear, control, and disrespect where love isn't free-flowing, generously given, and abundantly nurtured.
I will continue my own personal travels to find the people, places, and spaces willing to engage at a different level of intimacy, without masks, performances, or expectations.
Venturing forth to the places where the fear of the unknown, uncertain, and unexpected can be set aside to allow the full experience of life to emerge.
Here's to the journey back to the joy of fully living.
May we remember our wholeness despite our past experiences of brokenness.
May we find the joy of being our own unique selves despite social conventions.
May we engage from a place of knowing justice, love and freedom is a birthright we all have.
What a wonderful guide to how to live your life. So beautifully written!
Thank you for sharing these profound insights with such truth and heart!
