Capturing
I love witnessing people enjoying each other’s company, food, drink, and games. My phone camera helps me capture these fleeting moments of joy and celebration wherever I go.
Today I had the opportunity to connect with my oldest sister’s extended in-law family who was celebrating a birthday, and welcoming their matriarch home after being abroad.
After asking if someone else had captured the moments, I began taking pictures. Different iterations of the family got together to pose so they could be captured.
Sharing the multiple photos I took was done easily through Airdrop with the other iPhone user in that family. Doing so in that moment helped me release the responsibility of choosing which photos were the best, editing, and getting the pictures to them in a different way.
I’m reflecting on the sense of ease, joy, and connection on my end of the experience. I’m noticing the sense of wonder, comfort, and the appreciation others express at what is so natural, interesting, and creative for me to do. It’s not the first time I’ve done this at a family affair. I’ve been thanked by many for having captured moments in the past. I don’t even think about it, I just do it.
